Relocation of an employee (e.g.
attorney) to a foreign assignment is now a commonplace occurrence.
Providing assistance to clients regarding issues related to relocation,
transfer, and/or a facility move are perplexing problems for the CPA. The
fee-for-service environment is not designed to support professional
consulting where just one person or a small group of employees is
involved. This is especially true for the following questions:
-
What
should I pay a controller in Quito?
-
What
about Unemployment Insurance in Mexico?
-
Is
private insurance available in Lithuania?
-
Do I
have coverage in the Congo?
-
How
much will it cost to live in Israel?
-
What
should I ask before I go to Krakow?
-
What
allowances will I need in Tokyo?
-
What is
fair pay in Wellington?
-
Is
there a difference between expatriate and third party national
treatment?
These simple questions oftentimes
require hours of research, most of which is spent finding the source or
defining the question. This course is one of several that deal with
special situations that often occur to the CPA. The focus is on
information and resources available on the Internet. The course goal is to
save CPAs time and effort, while allowing them to give credible advice and
assistance to their clients regarding the relocation of a management level
employee to a foreign assignment. This course expires June 1, 2003. |
