History and Theory of Dispute Mediation ADR 100

1 credit hour

Pay-level decisions often involve, create, or solve disputes and conflict. Attorneys face these disputes and conflicts both in their firm management, personal lives, and in client situations. Serious disputes can lead to legal arguments, often involving the expenditure of time and resources. This expenditure, especially if it leads to court exposure, oftentimes is an ineffective use of the professional's (and court's) time. To mitigate these expenditures, attorneys are turning to mediation and arbitration. This material creates a foundation course that provides an attorney with the framework to understand and apply mediation concepts. It provides concepts and workshop examples that will prepare a lawyer for further courses and study regarding alternative dispute resolution.

This course is approved for CLE credit in California, Florida and New York.
